The Grand Canal of China is a World Cultural Heritage Site. It is a great water conservancy project created by the ancient Chinese people on the eastern plains of China. It is the longest canal in the world and also the earliest and largest canal ever dug in the world. In 2014, the Grand Canal of China was successfully included in the World Cultural Heritage List. In 2019, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Outline for the Protection, Inheritance and Utilization of the Grand Canal Cultural Heritage", clearly defining the direction, goals and tasks for the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, emphasizing that "efforts should be made to strengthen the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage", "efforts should be made to promote the integrated development of culture and tourism", "efforts should be made to innovate the mechanisms for protection, inheritance and utilization", and "it should become a shining brand for promoting China's image in the new era, showcasing Chinese civilization and demonstrating cultural confidence".
